How To Spot a Fake Louis Vuitton Artsy MM

Artsy is one of Louis Vuitton's most popular bags. It is an elegant and spacious hobo that has a very comfortable handle and a chic charm. The bag was first released in 2010 and by far this release has been a success, which also means a lot of fakes. Ever wondered how to tell a fake Artsy from a real one? At 1960$+tax retail price you do not wanna risk, right?

Here's a set of images required to determine if an Artsy bag is authentic or not. In the majority of cases these pics will be enough to spot the fakes.

Most of these details give away the fake pretty easily. Let's take a look at the fake I recently found on a local web site.

I already told you the secret and I know that many of you spotted this fake from afar. But our goal here will be a bit deeper, to learn how to pay more attention to details.

Now let's do a side-by-side comparison with an authentic Louis Vuitton Artsy and see which deteils give away the fake.

1) BOTTOM

At first, these bags seem similar. However, take a closer look. On an authentic Louis Vuitton Arsty the bottom center is at the fleur-de-lis element. This is the place where it's supposed to be. The fake one has the center of the flower.

2) CHARM

See the charm length difference? The charm on the fake Artsy is much shorter and that’s not a coincidence. The length of this charm is definitely wrong on the fake.

3) HANDLE

The handles may seem similar at first until you see that spare piece of leather after the stitching. The pieces from both sides do not match which is unacceptable for a real Artsy.

4) DATE CODE

Oh, there’s too much to say.

  1. Louis Vuitton Artsy Monogram has its date code stamped into the lining.

  2. Even if we assume that the date code can be on a leather tag… this date code is not valid, cause it tells you that the bag was manufactured in 2004 (the 21st month :)

  3. This model was released only in 2010 which puts 2004 out of question.

  4. Louis Vuitton leather tags always have sharp edges.

  5. The font is wrong on this date code.

Note the differences in lining. The fake one is a bit fluffy.

I hope you learned something new and next time you come across an Artsy, you'll check the photos according to the cheklist and you will never be fooled by fakes.

In our Louis Vuitton authentication course we'll take a look at more than 20 Artsy fakes to train your eye exactly to this model. This course will be available in September. Message me if you're interested in a particular model, we're still developing the sections and your voice will be heard!
